Anime giant Toei launches new games division

Posted on 22 Apr 2026

Toei have announced via a Toei Games press release that after 75 years, they're continuing to innovate by announcing a brand-new games division, Toei Games.

The new company will apparently focus on the PC market via Steam, before porting to leading consoles by Sony, Nintendo and Xbox. Furthermore, the initial slate of releases will be entirely new IP and not based on any existing Toei properties, worked on both in Japan and studios globally.

The company has already created a website, which features a charming pixelated version of their classic waves on the rocks ident.

Comment from President Fumio Yoshimura

Toei Corporation has launched a new game brand, Toei Games, and is taking on the challenge of entering a new realm of the game business. We will clearly position this business as a "new pillar" along with the fields such as film, television, and events that Toei has been the main focus of so far, and we will focus on it.

Gaming is a highly global form of entertainment that continues to spread across languages and borders. The Group's medium- to long-term vision, TOEI NEW WAVE2033, aims to deliver the "stories" created by Toei to the world, and for us, we believe that taking on the challenge of the game business with the global market as our main battlefield is the embodiment of our vision.

Toei Games' goal is to create a new IP from scratch that is not limited to the use of existing IPs.

We will pour the technology and know-how we have cultivated through video production into our new game business and deliver Toei's unique entertainment experience to players around the world.

Please look forward to Toei's new challenges.

We're excited to see the sort of games Toei will produce, and we'll update here once the first details emerge.
