Arrow have announced a new subsidiary label, Toy Robot Video, that takes us down a new and exciting route, bringing back to life the excitement of video rental stores where you'd pick a film just based on the cover and throw a bit of money on it for a night of cheap thrills- and yes some of us are old enough to remember when the video shop was a few shelves in the local TV repair shop and Blockbuster was yet to appear in the UK... (I know I am - Ed)
Toy Robot Video are proud to announce the launch of a temptingly-priced slate of cult-tastic titles on Blu-ray this September, including ninja mayhem, a brand new slasher, kung-fu comedy action and a Blu-ray debut for a superhero classic.
The new label - a subsidiary of Arrow Video - aims to recreate the wondrous experience of browsing titles at the local video store - except this time they’re yours to own and cherish, with fabulous new cover artwork, film masters transferred from the best elements available, colourfully-branded OBI-Strips, slip cards, art cards, and extras - and at pocket money prices, so you’ll have money left over for snacks!
Checking out two of the four first releases, yes, the prices are definitely below the norm for Arrow and so in the first slate of films coming in September we have:

Roaring Fire
Released on Blu-ray September 7
The grace of Bruce Lee. The speed of Sonny Chiba. The force of Chuck Norris. He’s total destruction. Hiroyuki Sanada (Shogun) and Sonny Chiba (Shogun’s Samurai) star in this wild Eighties martial arts action comedy, about a Texas-raised rancher settling the score after his brother’s death, available for the very first time, fully uncut in the UK, on Blu-ray.
(Eagle eyes may have spotted this is from the same director as the upcoming Arrow release of Sex and Fury and Female Yakuza Tale.

Ninja Wars
Released on Blu-ray on September 28
Sorcery and violence in a stunning battle for power supreme… Sanada and Chiba again in a dark action film set in feudal Japan, blending ninja lore with horror and fantasy elements, about a wandering ninja who becomes entangled in a deadly conflict between rival clans after a brutal massacre wipes out his comrades. A standout entry in early 1980s Japanese genre cinema.
