A new anthology film from famed animation director Atsuri Nishigori and animation studio Cloverworks, Grotesqqque will premiere in the UK on November 1st at the Leeds International Film Festival at 9pm.

The film comprises three stories - A(E)liens, YORUSHIKU*Girl and Nocturne: Nuit Grotesque (full synopsis below the trailer).

There's no UK distributor lined up yet, but the film looks pretty exciting, as you can see for yourself below:

A(E)LIENS

Earth has entered an age of interplanetary exchange.

As fear and prejudice toward aliens spread across society, a young alien girl named Elie arrives as an interstellar goodwill ambassador. She adores Earth’s culture and its wonderfully pointless everyday life, and teams up with Kento Kunikura, a civil servant who works for the Space Bureau, to search for “friends” across the planet.

But Elie’s powers sometimes spiral out of control. As a mysterious alien surrounded by secrets, she soon attracts public attention and suspicion, and people gradually begin to see her as an “invader.”

Then, without warning, hostile aliens appear──!?

YOROSHIKU★Girl

In the city of GALs TOKYO, morning never comes.

Every night, girls known as “Gal Ps” gather there—girls who no longer have a place for themselves in the real world.

They all seek the same goal: to become the ultimate victor in a game called Queen of Butterfly, or QoB for short, and claim the title of “Queen.”

A truant girl named STELLA hears rumors of an urban legend and throws herself into the deadly game. Girls kill and fall, scattering like butterflies in the night. In the middle of the chaos, STELLA encounters a mysterious girl carrying an SSS-ranked weapon and wielding overwhelming power. Through her, STELLA uncovers the hidden truth behind the game──

NOCTURNE: NUIT GROTESQUE

In a world where humanity has already perished,

a pureblood vampire named Ayame travels in a wagon car alongside three girls who survived by becoming “infected” through her blood.

Above them, countless stars light up the night like daylight, while golden fields shimmer across the ruined earth. Through a vampire’s eyes, even a devastated world can look breathtakingly beautiful.

Together, the girls cherish the small, quiet moments of life left behind in this empty world.

“Even if a vampire’s body perishes, the soul never disappears.”

When Ayame quietly speaks those words, Shion senses the loneliness and despair hidden within someone doomed to live forever.

Then one day, something strange begins to happen to Ayame, and the girls’ unchanging everyday life slowly starts to crack apart.
