Celsys, the company behind the popular Clip Studio Paint series favoured by artists worldwide, is sponsoring the Kyoto Nippon Festival taking place between October 25th to December 8th.

Full details of the festival, alongside a list of events, can be found here.

From the Press Release:

Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, the head shrine for Tenjin shrines around Japan, is a place of worship as well as a social and cultural center where art and music have long been exhibited. This fourth Kyoto Nippon Festival has the theme of “animating national treasures. The exhibition will include the national treasure “Illustrated Legends of the Kitano Tenjin Shrine” and contemporary interpretations of the art scroll by six Japanese illustrators.

Participating illustrators En Morikura and Kamogawa used Clip Studio Paint, the artist’s tool for drawing and painting developed by Celsys, to create their modern interpretations of the Illustrated Legends.

En Morikura also created the “Hatsune Miku with autumn leaves” key visual for the festival.

On the west side of Kitano Tenman Shrine is a bank created in 1591 by Japanese noble Tyotomi Hideyoshi to prevent flooding. This bank is lined with 300 Japanese maple trees, some of which are even 400 years old. During the autumn scene, they surround the bank with stunning golds and reds. From Nov. 11, the trees will be illuminated at night to create a beautiful scene just like the key visual of the festival.

The festival also includes an event with the anime "Sword Art Online," and art contest organized by pixiv, the world's largest art sharing service, and a special exhibition of traditional Japanese flower-arrangements inspired by various anime and characters involved in the festival.
