Adapted from the popular web novel How I Became King by Eating Monsters authored by Daken is getting its own anime version produced by White Fox. The series is set to debut sometime in 2027, although no official release date has yet been announced.
Synopsis:
Mars, a 12-year-old child, is the first prince of the kingdom of Farune and lives in constant terror due to his fear of being assassinated by Galamus, a hostile prime minister. The threat of palace plots and poisonings are omnipresent, forcing him to sneak outside and hunt monsters to eat raw to avoid starvation.
One night in the forest, Mars has a chance encounter with a mysterious red-haired warrior woman named Cassandra, also known as the ‘Scarlet Demon’. Upon recognising his unique talent for feasting on monster meat, she quickly makes Mars her apprentice and subjects him to unconventional and arduous training.
Thanks to her coaching, Mars soon realises that consuming monster meat in a certain way, not only doesn’t kill him but dramatically increases his immunity to poison while building vitality and providing him with superhuman strength.
However, despite now shrugging off assassinations because of his newfound powers, the chaos only worsens. Compelled by escalating misunderstandings and political unrest, Mars becomes the accidental king, transforming from a traumatised child into an unstoppable ruler.

'How I Became King by Eating Monsters’ originally debuted on Shōsetsuka ni Narō, produced by Daken in January 2022 and was last updated in January 2023. It was later illustrated by Shiba and published in compiled volume format by Micro Magazines in September the same year. The 7th volume is set to be released on October 20th 2026.
