During The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on September 8th, Shigeru Miyamoto announced that a live-action Legend of Zelda film will be released on April 30th 2027. This is earlier than expected and leaves less than a year until we see Nintendo's first live action adaptation since 1993's Super Mario Brothers featuring Bob Hoskins. Hopefully, this will fare better.
Miyamoto explained that the movie is set to be titled simply as ‘The Legend of Zelda’ without having a subtitle, adding: "You'll understand when you see it".
While the film will be inspired by past game titles in the franchise, it will largely be a standalone story with an original narrative.
Directed by Wes Ball, the film stars Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Bo Bragason, Dichen Lachman, and others.
