While we last heard about the Gundam live action movie last November, an update has arrived with a change of release strategy and writer.
A teaser image was released yesterday to announce that production has started between film studio Legendary and the newly formed Bandai Namco Filmworks America, who will each co-fund the project:
Originally the project looked set to release on Netflix, but it's now been moved to a theatrical release with a new writer, Sweet-Tooth co-showrunner Jim Mickle. Until now it was understood that Jordan Vogt-Robert (Kong: Skull Island) was tapped to direct, but Deadline reports he's no longer involved.

No news on whether this is a new story/timeline or an adaptation of any of the numerous Gundam anime series, but now that production has started, news should begin to flow.
