SciFi Gyaru-style anime Shinsei Galverse to premiere on Youtube June 25th

This incredible little anime project was developed by three members of the Galverse Team, Ayaka Ohira, Jack Baldwin and Devin Mancuso. Originally an NFT project that created 8,888 NFTS released in April 2022, the entire collection was sold in just a few hours. What made the project unique was the sheer number of assets used to create the characters - well over 2,000 unique traits over 22 layers per character, this accounted for hair colour, outfits, gadgets, decorations and skin tones that made each cyborg Gal unique.

Now the team has created an anime based on the concept, mixing sharp Heisei 90's anime aesthetics, Gyaru culture and the Web3 NFT community.

The Heisei easthetic was common in anime such as Slayers, Pokemon, Tenchi Muyo and Saber Marionette J - sharply defined cheekbones, big eyes with big lashes and petite bodies with slightly oversized heads made this period stylistically distinctive.

However, the project isn't looking back, but forward. The creators are actively encouraging fans to use the Galverse animation style and designs to make their own Galverse creations, a welcome change in the usual way in which anime is fiercely protected. Sure, there's a huge doujin market, but this adheres to pretty strict "unofficial" rules that creators have to follow - no such restrictions exist here. This mindset is born of NFT culture, which has essentially crowdfunded the project and allowed the work to belong to everybody. It's an interesting new way to fund anime given how stretched studios and creators have become trying to meet the burgeoning international demand.

The series now has a new trailer and a premiere date of June 25th - it's free to watch on Youtube, so save the Shinsei Galverse page, where you can also watch more videos about the project.
