Pop Culture Shock Juri Statue

Pop Culture Shock Juri Statue

Posted on 18 Sep 2019

Ah, Juri Han, the Korean anti-hero of the Street Fighter world. Bursting onto the scene in Street Fighter IV, this asian bad-girl stole the show from other new fighters with her gorgeous costume, vibrant colours and killer kick combos. Her devil-may-care attitude and sensual, teasing manner made her an instant hit and suitable rival for other series mainstays Chun Li and Cammy.

Standing approximately 54cm tall including her base, this "Feng Shui" variant, which comes with an extra head (licking her luscious lips), is limited to only 250 pieces worldwide. Although I own both the Kotobukiya bishoujo and State of the Art (SOTA) statues, this was simply too striking to ignore.

That said, I somewhat underestimated what a huge figure this is. The box is mammoth, containing the statue, base, arms and both Juri heads. Connecting everything is very simple with deep slots for and magnets to hold it all in place. Both heads can be separated, with a battery and light function embedded to replicate her Feng Shui Engine eye, which glows a rather yummy shade of purple. It's subtle, and hard to see in the photos, but really stands out across the room!

The quality of the cast is about the best I've ever seen, though I can't say I've experienced many pieces this big up close. Skin tones are realistic and applied evenly, with creases and shading looking very natural. Likewise the clothing is expertly rendered and detailed, with fabrics differentiated nicely to maintain a realistic look.

The weight of this thing is incredible, and I'm nervous to move it around too much. My J Scott Campbell statues are the nearest thing I have to this statue, and only Spidey, with his massive base, can boast the same amount of nerve-wracking tension whenever I have to move him. Be careful with this one, it's an expensive piece to damage at around £400 plus shipping (add another £93 there!)

This is a real statement, and she's currently menacing the corner of my office, waiting patiently for Ibuki to arrive in a few months time. Yes, I was impressed enough with Juri that a companion piece was an absolute must, and of the PCS statues I've seen, only Ibuki seems like a worthy challenger.

This is no small investment, but if you're looking for something with a "wow!" factor in the gaming sphere, the PCS Juri Han could well be the challenger you've been waiting for.
