Uzaki Chan returns to the Japanese Red Cross Campaign

Uzaki Chan returns to the Japanese Red Cross Campaign

Posted on 25 Jan 2020

In October of last year, the Red Cross ran a successful campaign to encourage young manga fans to donate blood by utilising the popular lead from the 2017 manga, Uzaki-Chan wants to Hang Out. The move prompted a bit of a twitter storm from the usual pedlars of cultural outrage, with some claiming that the poster was the equivalent of sexual assault.

Yes, really.

The good news is that Japan, ever the pragmatists, appreciated the success of the October campaign  that, let us not forget, saves lives, and are bringing Uzaki back for a second run.

The campaign will run through February 2020, with those donating more than 400ml of blood receiving a special clear folder (presumably featuring our heroine) with the same offered to those younger donors giving 200ml of blood.

Thankfully outlets such as Anime Motivation and Nyan Net, among many others, are calling out the how ridiculous this story is.

So well done Red Cross Japan, here's wishing you lots of success in 2020!

Uzaki Chan Wants to Hang Out is an ecchi slice of life tale that I reviewed on The UK Anime Network achieving a highly respectable 8/10.
